A good-sized crowd came to the derby of the two Tisa sides hoping for an enjoyable, real league match. There was no lack of fighting spirit and every player gave his best. Both teams began cautiously and the occasional attacks posed no great danger at either end. Senta had the first chance in the 14th minute, when Kerleta headed wide from close range. Two minutes later, on a visiting counter-attack, the referee pointed to the spot, but Szakala's thunderous penalty flew some 80 centimetres over the bar.
A few minutes of Horgoš pressure followed, but the Senta defence, led by Recsko, the best player on the pitch, I. Zmukić and goalkeeper Markov, proved unbreakable. In the 25th minute Biro of Horgoš and Rozsa of Senta were sent off, and both teams played on with ten men. The second half was rather more exciting and both goalkeepers had the chance to shine. The match only took on a real league character in the last fifteen minutes, when both teams staked everything on winning, but Markov and Sarčević were equal to it, each saving his side from two certain goals.
