The poor pitch made attractive football impossible. The first half was played mostly in midfield, and the only chance fell to the hosts in the 28th minute, when Vukobrat produced a superb save from Malinović's close-range shot.

Half-time substitute Vasin gave Senta the lead with a solo run in the 47th minute, but Gecić levelled from 18 metres in the 56th. Radin was sent off in the 59th minute, and the hosts piled on the pressure, but the Senta defence stood firm and even launched dangerous counters - Vasin and Popov, however, squandered their chances. On the balance of play the result was fair.
