The match began with furious home attacks: Todorović had a chance in the 2nd minute and a minute later a Štrbački header flew inches over the bar. After fifteen to twenty minutes of home pressure the visitors regrouped and launched dangerous counters. What the home forwards could not manage, the visitors did in the 23rd minute: from a counter they won a free kick twenty metres out, Cvitko only just stopped Stanković's thunderous shot but the ball slipped from his hands, and Jakovljević easily scored past a sleeping defence.
The second half again began with the hosts on top, but by then the visitors had dropped back completely, often using the offside trap, and played hard, several times beyond the limits of fair play. Todorović was the victim, put out of the game in the 65th minute by the previously booked Novaković; Csuzdi replaced him and brought life to the attack with his combative play. In the 70th minute Roganović dribbled past several players and reached the six-yard line, where he was fouled, and Farago converted the penalty. After the equaliser the hosts took complete control, and Hubai secured both points in the 85th and 88th minutes.
