A win over Zvezda to open the championship - Senta vs. Zvezda (52/53)

Both teams produced typical early-season football. After Senta's opening attacks the game settled in midfield and both sides played in a hurried, disjointed way. The hosts went ahead when Medenica released Jovović and the winger beat the advancing goalkeeper.

The pace picked up after the break. Homolya was injured ten minutes into the second half and moved out to the left wing, and near the end he had to leave the pitch after a collision with the visiting goalkeeper. Zvezda improved around the middle of the half, but the play stayed scrappy. Đorđević then sent Jovović away and Kurfis headed his fine cross into the net. Senta went on to pin their opponents back, but Zvezda pulled one back from a sudden counter-attack: after a defensive error the ball came back off the post straight to Varga. Galler, Čolović and Jovović were the best of the Senta side.
