The match was played at a good tempo throughout, though the football was hurried at times. On what was seen it should have ended in a draw, but a late penalty gave both points to the visitors. Senta gained a slight territorial edge early on and went ahead in the 18th minute from a goalmouth scramble: a Tomić volley changed direction off Šijan and flew into the right corner. The rejuvenated home side did not give up and kept battling, which paid off: in the 45th minute, at the end of an attractive counter-attack, Kaćanski dribbled past Potpara and scored with an unstoppable shot.
After the break the attacks went from end to end, though both defences mostly stopped them before the edge of the box. There were quite a few excellent chances, more of them for the visitors. With one or two exceptions the home players fought with real spirit, and they seemed set to take a point off the title contenders when, in the 85th minute, the referee awarded the visitors a penalty, judging that a home defender had handled inside the area. Kitli converted it.
