The spectators were right to ask after the match whether the two teams had completely forgotten how to play football: of the many past meetings of the great rivals, nothing remained but the old rivalry. Both sides played openly, but in a disorganised fashion and with a great many mistakes. The match was settled as early as the 9th minute: Jovanović tried to play the ball back to his goalkeeper but left it short, Markov as usual kept the ball at his feet, and Kesar nipped in to score from close range.
The visitors then controlled the game, but their forwards rarely got into really good positions. They mostly tried from distance, while the good deliveries from corners and free kicks generally went unused or were dealt with by the excellent Perčić. Bačka's counter-attacks, by contrast, were a great danger to Markov's goal. In the closing stages especially the hosts had two big chances, but the Senta goalkeeper saved both times. Kesar was sent off a minute before the end.
