A match that could fairly be called the tie of the round produced a tremendous battle but few attractive moves. It was clear from the start that both teams were going for the win. The Žitopromet defence dealt with Senta's first attack, and in the 4th minute the visitors went ahead: Basa was released with a long ball, dribbled past several defenders and scored past the advancing goalkeeper. In the 21st minute Gajda was fouled in the box when through on goal, but the referee's whistle stayed silent. Žitopromet's attacks were regularly finished by Csernak and Basa, and in the 30th minute a fierce Csernak shot missed the Senta goal by a whisker. Senta's best chance to equalise came in the 33rd minute, when Gajda was one-on-one with goalkeeper Arokszallasi but could not take it. In another goalmouth scramble Arokszallasi injured his hand, yet still kept his goal intact.
Senta attacked more in the second half but squandered their chances one after another. Rudics could not score either, although his team-mates twice put him in promising positions. In the 57th minute a well-started attack created another opening for an equaliser in front of the Žitopromet goal, but none of the Senta forwards could convert it. There were chances at both ends until the final whistle, but the score did not change.
