In ideal weather, in a match that was exciting throughout, with a string of attractive moves and territorial superiority that lasted at least 75 minutes, the side from the banks of the Tisa won the two points that put them top. They had chances galore, but only the one in the 44th minute was truly clear-cut: with a slightly calmer finish Bokodi could easily have scored, but his weak shot ended up in the goalkeeper's hands. Bratstvo tried to threaten on the counter now and then, and once Rudinski got very close to goal, only for Dukai to throw himself bravely on the ball.
The second half also began with furious home attacks: in the 47th minute a tremendous shot from Nikola Zmukić flew just past the left-hand post. With the hosts well on top, the enthusiastic crowd had to wait until the 58th minute for the first goal: Birkas played a long ball forward, Farago collected it on the left wing and found the well-placed Kitli, who this time made no mistake. The visitors went looking for an equaliser, and that seemed to catch the home defence by surprise: the Subotica side threw everything forward and Medić took advantage of a small error in the 60th minute. A fierce battle for the winning goal followed. The hosts' persistence paid off in the 82nd minute: a defender fouled Kitli on the edge of the box as he broke through, and Barna struck the free kick expertly round the wall into the bottom left corner.
