The summer break has passed quickly: the new season begins on 22 August, and the start will not be easy for the yellow-and-blues, who face two away matches in a row, at Bratstvo Subotica and at Graničar of Đala.
The team is preparing under coach Gyorgy Major, with three training sessions a week of thorough and varied work. The coach has the full backing of the board, several members of which were present at the fifteenth session. Apart from Sundays there are two hours of fitness work every day, with individual attention for some players. Seven warm-up matches were played, against sides from the neighbouring municipalities and teams from a higher level, and the two-day tournament in Čoka was won: five wins, one draw and one defeat, with a goal difference of 22:10. Of the 22 goals Kitli scored nine, Mazak three and Farago, Đorđević and Agoston two each, with Nikolić, Verba and Harmath also on the scoresheet.
The squad has been strengthened by the returning Farago and Nikolić, by Stanačev, formerly of Proleter Čoka, by Stantić and Homolya from Žitopromet, Kanjec from AFK and Cvitko from Kristal. Gyore, Arokszallasi and Belec have left to play for Žitopromet, and Davidović has stopped playing. Youth-team players Paku, Kisjovak and Verba have also been given their chance, having already stood out last season for their fighting spirit and courage.
Coach Major says the players know that, after the planned reorganisation of the competition, only good performances can earn them a place at a higher level, which is a long-held wish, and that their attitude is the right one. Success, he adds, depends on the attitude of everyone: the board, the players and the supporters. A decision has also been taken at municipal level that the town on the Tisa should have a team in the Vojvodina league.
The squad numbers twenty: goalkeepers Kranjec and Cvitko; Homolya, Harmath, Potpara, Birkas, Stanačev and Katona in defence; Đurović, Farago, Nikolić, Csuzdi and Mazak in midfield; and Kitli, Stantić, Verba, Agoston, Kisjovak, Paku, Kis and Bicskei up front. The board has also decided to introduce membership: the annual fee is three thousand dinars, in return for which members can attend home matches free of charge.
