Before the spring: the aim is a top-six finish (1982/1983)

Club secretary Nikola Pjevač was more restrained than usual this time: instead of the title, he promises that the team will finish the spring in the leading group, which is also realistic, since Palić and Bačka have built up a substantial lead.

The preparations, he says, were very encouraging. Of ten matches Senta lost only three: twice to Kabel of the Novi Sad league, 4:2 and 4:3, and once to Palić, 4:1. On the other hand they beat Palić 4:2 on their own ground, Čurug 3:2, Žitopromet 3:1 and 4:0, Kristal 6:2 and 5:1, and Radnički Zrenjanin of the Vojvodina league 2:1.

Two good players left during the winter: Miklos, who went back to Čoka, and Nyilas. No new players have arrived, but the club believes the team is stronger all the same: Roganović has come on a great deal, and a midfield has finally been found in Petrović, Farago and Barna. Four youth players have also been added to the first-team squad, among them Katona, Harmat and Đurović, and they will get their chance during the spring.

Pjevač, who has followed football in Senta for twenty-two years, says the club has never had a better generation: the midfield is strong, Kitli and Roganović have improved greatly, and Todorović and Markov add their vast experience. The club, headed by Istvan Urban, has completely sorted out its once disordered finances and has been allotted 730,000 dinars for the year's work. A top-six finish would mean that from the autumn Senta will be a member of the newly formed league.
