Csuzdi decides the town derby before 2,500 - Žitopromet vs. Senta (87/88)

Never before had there been so many spectators in the Žitopromet stands. It was a true festival of football in Senta: flags, rattles, cowbells and loud support from both sets of fans greeted the teams as they ran out. The match began with a series of Senta crosses, and that spell of attacks lasted a good quarter of an hour without producing a goal. The game evened out in the second quarter of an hour, and towards the end of the half Žitopromet clearly took control. Both defences shut the door well, with Arokszallasi and Gonci standing out for the hosts and Đurović, Stanačev and Birkas for the visitors.

The second half opened with Žitopromet attacks, forcing Senta to defend. Only Kitli, Nikolić and occasionally Agoston stayed up front. After the hosts had wasted many chances, Senta went ahead in the 64th minute: the ball rebounded off the defenders and Csuzdi rolled it into the bottom right corner from close range. In the last quarter of an hour Senta defended with nine or ten men and held on to a win of great value in the race for first place. Although each side was shown three yellow cards, it was a sporting contest played at a good tempo.
