Despite rain, wind and cold some 1,500 spectators came to the derby in Ada, and they were not disappointed: for all the heavy pitch the game was played at a fair pace, with the hosts standing out through their more active, more considered and more dangerous attacks. Senta would clearly have settled for a point: they tried to hold the home forwards with a reinforced defence and to threaten on the counter through their two quick wingers. The plan did not work, because the defence had a bad day. In the 14th minute Ivica Zmukić played an unlucky back-pass for the second time, the ball rolling past the advancing Markov and coming back off the post, and the alert Lengyel had no trouble scoring from close range.
In the 27th minute, after a brief spell of Senta pressure, the hosts won a free kick: Mrdjanov lofted the ball in from the left and Jakšić headed it into the bottom right corner from some six metres. Ten minutes from time N. Zmukić turned with the ball 20-25 metres out and sent a shot of enormous power into the top left corner. AFK deserved their win, as their forwards created many more chances in front of Markov's goal.
