Defeat to AFK before 500 spectators - Senta vs. AFK (88/89)

A match billed as a derby produced football below expectations, and the 500 spectators saw hardly a single attractive move. For twenty minutes the teams felt each other out, mostly between the two penalty areas. In the 25th minute the visitors won a corner from an attack that had looked harmless: Z. Kaszas collected the high ball and laid it off from the edge of the six-yard box to the well-placed Bokodi, who scored past a sleeping home defence. The goal roused the hosts, who tried powerful long-range shots with the strong wind behind them. Nagy seriously threatened twice but, luckily for the visitors, missed the target.

After the break Senta were determined to equalise and kept the visitors' goal under siege almost throughout. They won four corners in a row, and from one of them a Đurović header bounced up off the ground and over the bar. The AFK defence protected the lead with everything it had, and the last ten minutes were fought out in the visitors' half. Kitli could have equalised in the 78th minute, and in the 82nd Csuvik cleared at the last moment. On play and chances a draw would have been the fairer result.
