Farago's penalty wins the town derby - Senta vs. Žitopromet (90/91)

Before kick-off Senta captain Ivan Farago presented the Žitopromet team with a bouquet, while three Senta players away on military service - Toth Abonyi, Vicei and Gajda - sent their greetings and wished both sides a fair game. A raffle added to the occasion, its main prize, a colour television, going to Zsolt Fajka, until recently a Žitopromet youth player.

The crowd saw a combative match played at a good tempo, with Senta the more effective and attractive side. Both defences had the better of the attacks, though Senta's forwards were slightly more dangerous. Most of the first half was spent in midfield, with one big chance at each end - Kerleta missing for the visitors - and in the 42nd minute a Kovacs header went wide.

Senta saw more of the ball after the break. In the 57th minute Novak tipped a Kovacs shot over the bar with a fine save, and soon afterwards Roganović was fouled in the box with a clear sight of goal, Farago converting the penalty. Žitopromet rallied a little after the goal and put together several organised attacks without real danger. The hosts then took control again: Farago in the 70th minute, Đuran in the 72nd and Petrik in the 87th all missed clear chances. From the 80th minute Senta were down to ten men after Pocs was sent off, and the visitors pushed for an equaliser, but the defence held firm. Senta fully deserved the win.
