First defeat, in the derby before 1,000 - Senta vs. Bačka (80/81)

What the Senta supporters, and perhaps quietly the team itself, had feared came to pass. Bačka, to judge by their play, came for a point, or rather to avenge last year's defeat, and their plan worked better than they had hoped: with this win they knocked the previously unbeaten Senta off the top and went a point clear. It must be said, though, that they played not a bit better than their opponents. The victim of the match was Sablatura, who had to leave the field early in the second half after a rough challenge.

It being a derby, both teams began calmly and played that way for some ten minutes. Senta tried mostly down the right, where Sablatura more than once put the visitors' goal in danger, but the forwards' shots missed by inches. Their best chance came in the 11th minute, when a Kerleta header flew a hair's breadth over the bar. In the 34th minute Markov turned a dangerous Lazić shot away for a corner. The second half began with furious Senta attacks, but the forwards drew a blank, and in the 67th minute Lazić scored the only goal of the match on the counter.
