The long-awaited first home win arrived, though the 300 spectators could hardly be pleased with the quality, as the hosts missed chance after chance. It was not easy either, because the Slavija players gave everything and were often none too particular about their methods. The ice was broken in the 16th minute: Todorović was brought down on the edge of the box and Štrbački drove the free kick round the wall into the left corner. Three minutes before the break substitute Zoran Petrović scored the second from a Todorović cross.
From the 70th minute the game became more of a battle. On a home counter-attack Birkas fell so awkwardly that he broke his collarbone, and with both substitutes already used Senta played the last twenty minutes with ten men. The visitors tried to take advantage and Stoilković pulled one back in the 82nd minute, but in the 89th Todorović set the final score with a very fine header from a Spasić corner.
