Four goals in the eternal derby in Kanjiža - Potisje vs. Senta (79/80)

In drizzle and before a good crowd the eternal derby was played, though its magic has sadly not been felt for years. For the hosts the match was decisive, since both points would have given them hope of staying up, but they suffered a convincing defeat at the hands of the autumn champions. It began with home attacks, to which the visitors replied with occasional counters. In the 15th minute, like a cold shower, the visitors scored from a corner, centre-forward Popović reacting best to beat the goalkeeper. The lead did not discourage the hosts, who built their attacks well: Lengyel shot wide in the 24th minute and headed the equaliser in the 29th. In the 34th minute Szakala struck the post.

The hosts controlled the second half too, but the first-half pattern was repeated: on the counter Popović scored again for 1:2. In the 50th minute the same player missed a gilt-edged chance, and in the 51st the quick Todorović made it 1:3. Hardly had the ball been kicked off again when Szakala lifted it masterfully over two defenders and Lengyel had no trouble scoring for 2:3. Vukmirović set the final score in the 79th minute, taking advantage of a huge defensive error to score past the advancing goalkeeper.
