The first forty-five minutes produced dull, poor football between evenly matched opponents. The hosts were a shade better, but their attacks, which they kept forcing down the left, came to nothing. One of their shots went over the bar, and Csikos hit the side netting from a few steps. Just before the break a long-range Todorović shot took a deflection, but the home goalkeeper was in the right place.

After the interval the game became a little livelier. In the 52nd minute the hosts could have gone ahead, but the forward was late to a textbook cross and the safe-handed Gyolai gathered the ball. After an hour the Palić side failed to score even from a few steps. In the closing stages the visitors tried to decide the match in their favour with organised attacks, but they did not succeed.
