Senta showed stage fright early on, while the visitors were calmer. Novi Sad went ahead in the 20th minute from a counter-attack, with a shot from 15 metres. The hosts then regrouped and played well in midfield, but their shorter forwards could not make headway against the visitors' tall defenders.

The second half began with furious home attacks. In the 47th minute a Kispal shot slid centimetres wide, and two minutes later Bajusz went down the wing and crossed for Kispal to roll the ball under the diving goalkeeper. The game stayed lively, with chances at both ends. Four minutes from the end the visitors went ahead again, but Kispal equalised in the 88th minute. Toth and Kispal stood out.
