There was great joy in Senta football circles: with fourteen positive results and one defeat the side from the banks of the Tisa became autumn champions, three points clear. The players wanted to prove themselves against a very capable Čantavir side with well-founded title ambitions, and they did, fighting with an exemplary attitude for the full ninety minutes. The visitors controlled midfield for the first twenty minutes, but their furious attacks posed little threat, as the home defence let them get no further than the edge of the box and goalkeeper Dukai had almost nothing to do. Then came something football often produces: it was not the attacking side that scored. In the 27th minute Kitli pounced on a bad defensive mistake and, from a very tight position, sent the ball into the left corner. The goal threw the visitors, their aggressive play dropped off, and Senta responded with well-organised counter-attacks: in the 37th minute, combining with Nikolić, Kitli scored his second with an unstoppable shot.
There were anxious moments in front of both goals in the opening minutes of the second half. A mis-kick by Birkas left Deak with a clear chance, but Dukai saved bravely. In the 59th minute a huge chance was wasted because Bokodi failed to notice Vukmirović standing alone in front of goal. By then the hosts were largely in control, and in the 72nd minute the Nikolić-Kitli pairing struck again, Kitli heading his third past the Čantavir goalkeeper. Even then the visitors did not give up, and in the 82nd minute they scored a consolation goal from the penalty spot.
