A match that promised good football was played in a tense atmosphere, with much dissatisfaction at the refereeing, and came close to ending in uproar. Verba and Matok were sent to the dressing room early, so Senta defended a draw with eight outfield players for some fifty minutes.

The defence finally cracked in the 78th minute, when Jovanović scored, and two more quick goals followed - Ković struck a minute later and Vestlić in the 84th. Beharić could only pull one back in the last minute.
