Opening-day win in the heat - Senta vs. Preporod (86/87)

The crowd went home satisfied, having seen a match of good tempo despite the sweltering heat. After a few minutes of sparring the hosts went on the attack: they took five corners in eight minutes, and in the 12th minute Mazak was a fraction late to a Kis Bicskei cross. The visitors tried to counter but got no further than the edge of the box, where Tomić, Birkas and Belec stopped them. In the 30th minute goalkeeper Ubović could only stop Kis Bicskei with a foul when he was through on goal, and Kitli converted the penalty. Senta were far the better side, and it was a wonder they led by only one goal at the break.

For a quarter of an hour after the interval the visitors played with more freedom: Kopunović missed a big chance in the 51st minute and Tomić cleared in front of the home goal in the 55th. Senta then took control again, and in the 65th minute a Kitli - Kis Bicskei - Mazak move ended with the last of them shooting low into the bottom left corner. Kitli added the third in the 74th minute, and the visitors got a consolation through a Nošković header in the 78th.
