Senta's players did not begin the 1981/82 season with high hopes: rejuvenating the team was unavoidable, and nobody could expect a still inexperienced squad to finish at the top. In the meantime the experienced sports official Istvan Urban became head of the club, coach Gyorgy Major was engaged again, relations within the club settled down and the new leadership also solved the financial problems. After stumbling at first, the youngsters showed that they could be relied upon, won a string of matches away from home as well and finished the autumn in second place, behind Ada.
Technical director Nikola Pjevač says they have not been disappointed in the young players, that discipline is not a problem and that, given a very favourable spring fixture list, they do not regard even first place as out of reach: a slip or two by Ada would make the championship interesting.
Training was in effect never interrupted during the break, so that the conditioning work would not have to start from scratch. Preparations officially began a few days ago, with four or five sessions a week, partly outdoors and partly in the hall. In the first half of February a week at a resort near Celje is planned, which can also be seen as a reward for the players. The stay would cost about 90,000 dinars, and the players have agreed to give up their post-match dinners in the spring so that the money can be found.
Sipos has returned to Njegoš of Lovćenac, but the team will still be stronger in the spring: Milovan Petrović has been signed from Hajduk of Belgrade and Attila Gere from Čantavir. Talks are under way with Ilijin of Sloga Ostojićevo, and Mihaly Soti has expressed a wish to return from Ada to his parent club. The very talented youngster Branislav Bulatović has also been brought into the first-team set-up.
Working with coach Major are: Markov, Recsko, Rozsa, Birkas, Bulatović, Agoston I, Agoston II, Petrović, Kitli, Miklos, Todorović, Zmukić I, Zmukić II, Barna, Gyore, Nikolić, Pecarski and Gere.
