Substitute Kerleta turns the derby in Subotica - Bačka vs. Senta (79/80)

One of the league's great autumn derbies went to Senta, and not undeservedly. True, over the 90 minutes they were more concerned with guarding their own net than with pressing forward, but they still gave the impression of a well-drilled, almost seasoned side that knows what it wants and how to get it. In vain did the hosts take more of the initiative, and in vain was their twenty-minute onslaught at the start of the first half: the calmer yellow-and-blues, cleverer in front of goal, took both points and so tightened their hold on first place. Rimac had the first chance, Markov scooping his glancing header out of the bottom right corner. In the 34th minute the visitors had a good one, when Barna broke away and went round goalkeeper Koprivica but could not find the net from a tight angle.

The hosts went on the attack in the second half, and in the 72nd minute the alert Mijović seized on a misplaced Senta pass, ran at goal and fired into the bottom left corner from 17 metres. There was great joy in the home camp and the red-and-whites thought the match was settled, a lapse for which they paid dearly. Young Kerleta, on as a substitute, first found the Bačka net after a Sablatura move down the right, and three minutes later, breaking between two defenders, he lifted the ball over the advancing Koprivica for his second.
