Substitute Potpara equalises, Farago misses a penalty - Senta vs. Solid (85/86)

Before kick-off the hosts greeted the league newcomers with a bouquet of flowers, and then the yellow-and-blues from the banks of the Tisa played well below their ability. It was clear from the start that the Subotica side had come to Senta for at least a point: they defended for almost the whole match and tried only the odd counter-attack, which the home defence snuffed out early. Senta controlled more than three quarters of the game, but because of the forwards' impotence it took until the 30th minute to create a real scramble in front of the visitors' goal, from which a little sharpness would have brought the lead; the Solid defence cleared at the last moment. In the same minute Antoci had a chance on the counter, but Katona stopped him with a sliding tackle.

The second half began with furious home attacks: as early as the 50th minute Olajos had an opening, but a defender won the ball and Ilijin reacted too late. In the 63rd minute Kuco, the Solid right winger, picked up the ball, dribbled past Ilijin and put his side ahead. That shook the hosts into life; they pinned their opponents back and one clear chance after another went begging. Finally substitute Potpara drove a hard, low shot from the corner of the box under goalkeeper Tomić and into the bottom left corner. The visitors then dropped back completely to protect the point. In the 85th minute Kitli was brought down in the box when through on goal, but Farago shot the penalty into the goalkeeper's midriff. It was a very sporting match, but of average quality.
