The champions begin preparing for the higher division (1988/1989)

FK Senta finished last season in first place with 45 points, two ahead of Eđšeg of Mali Iđoš and six ahead of Žitopromet, their closest pursuers, and so earned the right to play at a higher level. The aim for the new season is to play successfully and for the crowd, and to keep pace with the best in the league. With that resolve the club's officials, the coaching staff and the players have set to work in recent days.

Coach Gyorgy Major has already drawn up the work plan, the essence of which is that training will concentrate above all on improving the quality of play, since a respectable position at the higher level will take a good deal more than before. The first part of the preparations will be devoted to fitness and to polishing ball skills. The team trains four times a week, at the times that suit the players best, and until the season starts it will play friendlies against sides from a higher level and teams from the surrounding area.

During the transfer window not a single player asked to leave, so the team has stayed together, with the exception of Tibor Hun, who has decided to hang up his boots. Alongside the existing players are Srđan Šuić and Korosi, who have arrived from Spartak Subotica (Korosi came through the ranks at Senta), Dragan Božanić from Obilić of Novi Kneževac, Robert Farago, back from military service, the returning goalkeeper Dukai and four players moved up from the youth team. That makes 25 footballers preparing for the new season.

Playing at a higher level is spurring the players to an even more serious approach. The team's aim is to keep pace with the best in the league and, with good performances, to win back its once large following.
