The club president on the start of the season: finances and rebuilding first (1981/1982)

FK Senta made a somewhat unusual start to the season: the team came home with maximum points from two away trips that had been regarded as difficult, yet collected only two points from three home matches thought to be easier.

Club president Istvan Urban says the aim this season is not so much the title as putting the finances in order and building a team. On that score he is satisfied: more than half of the 165,000-dinar debt has been repaid, helped by the 60,000 dinars Spartak paid for the transfer of Kerleta, until then a Senta player. The youngsters given a place in the side have not yet delivered what was expected of them, and more had been hoped for from the older players too. The supporters are impatient, but a process like this, he says, needs the right attitude, perseverance and above all time.

In coach Gyorgy Major the club has, in the president's words, found the right man: apart from Mondays and Saturdays he is at the ground from morning till evening and also works a great deal with the younger age groups. The players are attending training with surprising diligence. What worries him, however, is the lack of unity between the town's three football clubs.
