Those attending FK Senta's electoral assembly on Friday evening stood for a minute's silence in memory of Istvan Vamos, a versatile sports official who had died a few days earlier.
Club president Dr Janos Toth Abonyi reported on the work done between 1986 and 1990. He said that the club, now in its 85th anniversary year, should have aimed higher than it had shown in that period, but that many things had contributed to the team performing below expectations. The club, he stressed, began the new season with an entirely young squad drawn from its own prepared youth players, and they have not disappointed: they are holding their own admirably and fighting for points among the best.
There is room to develop, but that requires even more responsible work, greater unity and more effective support. Proof of this is the sixty youngsters attending training, and a youth section that is achieving better and better results in its championship. Everyone who spoke praised the rejuvenation of the team and offered their help, with the message that football's place in the town needs to be defined and the conditions for its further development created accordingly.
