There was exceptional interest in the meeting of the two rivals. Senta played a closed game in the first half and attacked only occasionally; in the 22nd minute Todorović got away from the defence, and goalkeeper Koprivica only just kept his net intact. The tempo was slow, the ball was often out of play and the hosts missed several good chances.
After the break Palić quickly took control. In the 54th minute Agoston was sent off for a foul, and in the 60th Mrvaljević was brought down in the box and Vujković converted the penalty. Goalkeeper Markov was then sent off for his furious protest, with Sovenyhazi taking over in goal. The hosts scored three more by the 75th minute, while Senta, after an injury to Štrbački, were left with even fewer players. In the 83rd minute M. Bojić scored the fifth, and when Kitli too was sent off after several warnings the referee abandoned the match, as under the rules the visitors no longer had enough players to continue.
