The derby began at a tremendous pace. Slavija attacked furiously at once and forced four corners in a short time, but their forwards were inaccurate or the Senta defenders intervened at the last moment. It took the visitors fifteen minutes to free themselves, and then they mounted some inventive attacks; midway through the half Pinter hit the post from a tight angle.
Slavija went ahead in the 49th minute with a shot from some 20 metres and four minutes later scored a second after an indirect free kick. Senta then attacked, but Kispal missed a penalty. The visitors played the more technical football but lacked fight. Bajusz, Pinter, Utornik, Kecskes and Toth stood out.
