The Senta supporters watched a hard-fought match of good tempo. The yellow-and-blues from the banks of the Tisa were determined to put the previous Sunday's slip against AFK behind them and were worthy opponents for the leaders throughout. Although Sever won three corners in a row in the very first minute, they created no danger from them. The hosts replied with counter-attacks, and in the 18th minute Birkas had a chance but missed the target. From then on Senta gained a slight edge and often put the Subotica goal under pressure. In the 29th minute Nikolić was through on the goalkeeper, the two collided and the visiting goalkeeper struck the Senta centre-forward in the face. The referee, lenient in everything else too, punished it with only a yellow card.
As at the start of the match, the visitors had a slight edge early in the second half, but to no effect. In the 60th minute a very debatable decision gave Sever a free kick: Stojanov ran unexpectedly on to the ball delivered into the goalmouth and headed in from the corner of the six-yard box. The hosts threw everything forward for an equaliser and Đurović had a chance in the 65th minute, without success. Two minutes later the visitors scored their second on the counter, through Ristić, after a defensive error. Senta gave everything until the end, while Sever ran down the clock and cleared the ball in all directions.
