The league's bottom two began nervously and hastily, and no wonder, as both are in trouble. The hosts quickly took charge and long pinned their opponents back, but from a host of chances they did not once find the net. Kukli, Farago and later N. Zmukić and Birkas could each have put their side ahead with better aim.

The second half also began with furious home attacks, which kept dying at the edge of the visitors' box. The Subotica side tried to counter, and it paid off in the 57th minute, when Jakovljević scored from a goalmouth scramble. The goal roused the hosts, who tried to make up for their misses and pinned their opponents back again, and in the 75th minute they had a penalty claim, but referee Tadić's whistle stayed silent. Csuzdi and then Farago could have equalised but wasted their chances. The visitors ran down the clock to the end, clearing the ball in every direction, twice right out of the ground, and so in this high-stakes match the luckier side won.
