The match was hard and at times rough, and the referee could not keep it under control. Chances were few: in the first half Milivojev had one but hesitated.

In the 65th minute the referee sent off Matić, and not long afterwards Đuričin too. Two men down, the visitors still tried to attack; Ivanović had a chance, but his close-range shot was kept out. The decisive goal came in the 85th minute, when Krstinić took advantage of hesitation by goalkeeper Živkov. A draw would have been the fairer result.
