Three sitters, then defeat on penalties - Senta vs. ŽAK (88/89)

On chances the hosts let a great opportunity slip, and for failing to take even the most inviting of them they had only themselves to blame. Centre-forward Kitli, the man expected to supply the goals, missed three clear chances in the first part of the match. The crowd saw two different halves: in the first Senta attacked with more menace and purpose, but the visitors frustrated them with very clever spoiling tactics. The Sombor side created only one dangerous opening in that period, which P. Marčo wasted with an inaccurate shot.

The picture changed somewhat after the break. The hosts stayed in control for a while, then the railwaymen from Sombor took over. In a fierce contest the referee sent off Jovičić in the 85th minute for striking Csuzdi in the face. That aside, it was a sporting match of good tempo and average quality. In the shootout Farago, Roganović and Csuzdi scored for Senta, and Tomas, Lukić, Sadovski and N. Marčo for the visitors.
