In front of a record crowd the hosts won the derby more easily than expected, with excellent tactics and a very assured performance. After the opening sparring, the first 13 minutes brought only two shots at goal, Orszag and Hun both firing over. In the 15th minute T. Erdei shot and Kranjec saved easily, and a minute later a 35-metre free kick from Kovacs flew just over. Senta tried sporadic counter-attacks without success. In the 28th minute referee Mihajlović rather harshly awarded Senta a penalty, but Farago shot wide. Egység then settled and were the better side, and in the 43rd minute Đinđić, with his back to goal, headed a cross past the advancing Kranjec.
The second half was better and brought more chances in front of the Senta goal. Kranjec saved with his feet from T. Erdei in the 47th minute, the same player shot wide from a great chance in the 51st, and in the 56th the Senta goalkeeper turned away his half-height effort. In the 60th minute the in-form Huszka made it 2:0 after a solo run. The visitors threatened through a 20-metre Hun free kick in the 61st minute, saved by Savić, and a fierce Kitli shot that went wide in the 67th. At the other end Kranjec dived at the feet of Kurnjak in the 65th minute. Hun tested Savić with another free kick in the 84th minute, and in the 86th substitute A. Erdei made it 3:0 from a goalmouth scramble.
