The under-strength hosts found it hard going against a Trešnjevac side that defended in an organised way while trying dangerous counter-attacks. The visitors started a little more aggressively and showed they had come to Senta for both points. In the 5th minute Lengyel created a dangerous opening, but his fierce shot missed by inches. The hosts were more cautious, took about a quarter of an hour to settle and take control, and in the 19th minute a Farago header crashed against the crossbar. Their slight edge brought the lead in the 29th minute, when Birkas calmly put away a ball crossed from the right. Many hasty home attacks followed, and several dangerous visiting counters, from one of which Zoltan Feher equalised after a Lengyel cross from the left. In the 40th minute Dukai only just managed to turn a powerful Mazak shot behind for a corner.
Both teams raised the tempo after the break but seldom created danger. The home defence and attack made many mistakes, which the visitors tried to exploit, though they were not accurate either. In the 64th minute Zoltan Feher could have put his side ahead, but his shot missed the Senta goal by inches. A minute later Vukmirović was brought down some twenty metres out and Farago scored from the free kick. The hosts' joy was short-lived, as Vlašković made it 2:2 in the 66th minute.
