Senta had good reason to be wary of this fixture, but the side from the banks of the Tisa played with spirit throughout and deserved both points. They faced a very aggressive opponent, desperate to win and often not shy of rough fouls. The biggest disappointment for the crowd was Orszagh: in the 15th minute his harsh tackle put Nikolić out of the match, and the forward was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury, while the referee punished the foul only with a yellow card. The match began in a gale and with furious attacks from the visitors. After some ten minutes of their pressure Senta strung together attacks of their own, and as early as the 11th minute, after a move between Agoston and Nikolić, a header went just past the post. The hosts did not win their first corner until the 20th minute. The rest of the half brought counter-attacks at both ends: first Njegovan missed a clear chance, then Vukmirović, on for Nikolić, sent a fierce shot just over the bar. After an attack down the left Kitli broke through and Cservenak could only stop him with a foul inside the box. Farago converted the penalty with confidence.
The second half opened with furious home attacks, and within a few minutes Vukmirović could have headed a second. Kovacs replied with a powerful shot that Dukai tipped over. In this period Senta played with a reinforced defence and often cleverly frustrated the visitors' plans. In the 70th minute Kitli and Todorović had a clear chance from an Agoston cross but failed to score, although goalkeeper Mihović was already beaten. In the 82nd minute Kitli again burst into the box and the goalkeeper had no option but to pull him down. Farago converted that penalty too.
