In the first half the home side's play was catastrophically poor, while the visitors played with real verve, converting two of their chances and could have had at least two more. Already in the 5th minute, before either side's players had properly warmed up, Banat scored. They broke quickly from the center of the pitch, the ball was threaded through the middle to Rikanović, who slotted it past Živkov from around ten meters. Senta's defense failed again eleven minutes later. Quick-footed Krstinić ran in from the right and, from around sixteen meters, floated the ball into a crowd of players, which Rigo latched onto to make it 0-2. In the 30th minute another goal was nearly conceded, but Krstinić's shot was denied by the post. Just before the end, Rigo had another chance, but Živkov made a fine save. In the second half Senta were the better side. In the 47th minute, from a Popov cross, Matić headed the ball from five and a half meters, but it went past the post. There were a few more half-chances, but Senta failed to convert them. Banat also had two chances: the first in the 51st minute, when Opančina missed a very promising opportunity, and the second from Krstinić in the 72nd, but Živkov threw himself at his feet to put him off. Full credit to Banat, who are fighting for survival - they were the better side and deserved the three points. Compared to the autumn part of the season, Senta are unrecognizable, and with this defeat they've lost even the theoretical chance of fighting for the top of the table.
